THE SCHOOL

Heartland Horseshoeing School is located approximately 20 miles North of Carthage, Missouri, and 3 miles South of Lamar, Missouri, on a 10 acre farm. The classroom and free housing are in a renovated 2 story dairy barn, and includes all the amenities of home in a bunk-house setting. The shop is a 40'x 60' metal building equipped with forges, anvils, shoeing bays, and all of the modern equipment necessary to shoe horses. The school was founded on the 12th day of April, 1995.

THE PHILOSOPHY

The horse is a noble beast that has no say in what happens to it. Tied by a lead rope, the horse has come under the nippers of many an unskilled horseshoer. This is not acceptable to the horse, to the horses' owner, or the farrier. The horse-owning public is quickly becoming aware that there is a difference between right and wrong. There are no gray areas where this is concerned. It is the responsibility of anyone who wishes to pursue this craft to become as knowledgeable, proficient, and correct as humanly possible. This is the standard and goal that we all must achieve.

Congratulations Chris
In December of 1998, the final chapter in the quest for Fellowship status with the Worshipful Company of Farriers was written. Chris passed most of the Fellowship exam in April of 1998 in Melton Mowbry, Leistershire, England. The only portion left was a thesis, which was approved in December giving Chris Gregory the title of Fellow of the Worshipful Company of Farriers, (FWCF). At 30 years old, this makes Chris one of the youngest. At this time, there have been 182 persons to receive this honor, with only 42 being alive today. Chris is the second from America. You will not find another school in the United States being taught by an instructor with comparable credentials.
