* General Rules for Trail Rides

There are no scheduled rain dates. If there is heavy rain the day before or on the day of the ride, we will usually cancel it. It is a good idea to call the trail guide designated for that ride to check on weather and trail conditions in that area. Same applies to extreme heat/cold conditions.

If the temperature is over 90 or under 40 degrees (especially if it is icy), the same rule as above will apply. (Note: Most rides offer shade and water)

Remember to always bring extra water and lawn chairs to all rides. You are responsible for your own snacks except on rides that are designated Pot Luck. In that case members will be notified what to bring on those rides. Please be sure and check your newsletter for possible changes and you can also check out the website.

There may be some rare occasions when a ride may conflict with a show. There may also be occasional conflicts with holidays. We will try to prevent this as much as possible.

Missouri State Park reservations at 1-877-422-6766 (7:00 AM - 10:00 PM) or online at www.mostateparks.com

Horse Trailer Parking Permits are required in Jackson County Parks. The permits are $5.00 for 1 day or $15.00 for season. They can be obtained by contacting Jackson County Parks & Recreation 22807 Wood Chapel Rd. Blue Springs, Mo. 64015 or call 816-503-4800.

Trail Ride Rating System

Each trail ride has been rated a #1, #2, or #3. This information may be useful if you, as the rider, is unfamiliar with the area or has a new or inexperienced horse.

The system is as follows:

#1. Easy terrain. Flat areas with open trails or fields. Very little rock unless we ride on the gravel service roads. This would be a perfect beginner's location for most young horses and young riders.

#2. Moderate terrain with some hills and rock. May have to maneuver tight wooded areas and ride through water. Shoes are usually required.

#3. Difficult terrain with steep hills, a lot of rocks and several other obstacles that may require a more experienced horse and/or rider.
