This place is run by friends in the natural horsemanship world. This
couple left their government jobs to start a weird business that no one thought would
succeed...selling wildflower and prairie grass seeds. They bought this beautiful land in
NE Iowa up near Wisonsin and Minnesota. The Mississippi River is only a valley away from
them.
Anyway, Donna and Howard harvested little itty bitty seeds..inventing almost everything to
do it with. Through lots and lots of hard work, they became very successful. Donna wanted
a horse. Soon they had a herd which includes some amazing mules. They discovered Pat
Parelli, and natural horsemanship became the 2nd focus of their world. One of the
contributions they want to make to the world is to bring this type of horse understanding
and knowledge to as many people as they can.
To this end, they decided to make part of their land, a Natural Horsemanship
"Mecca". They offer many different clinics and lessons throughout spring summer
and fall. The lessons and clinics are taught by a variety of top natural clinicians and
trainers.
Their facility includes beautifully located cabins for rent and campsites (no hookups),
horse stalls, an indoor arena and a huge outdoor arena. This facility is located near the
Yellow River State Park in NE Iowa. There are miles and miles of riding trails.
The Natural Gait even offers a scholarship to young people to help start them out on the
"right gait...the natural gait.
The owners of The Natural Gait are my friends and I love them dearly. They are fun and
wonderful people with a desire to make us a better spiritual beings and make the world
better for our beloved horses.
