A VIDEO REVIEW

I watched this movie with two people that ride fox trotters for trail. They love the Missouri Fox Trotter for its smooth ride and great personality. They really liked the movie as it showed fox trotters doing things that they never imagined fox trotters could do…spinning like a reining horse for one thing.

That’s one of the highlights about this video movie, you get to see real fox trotters herding cows, going trail riding and spinning like horses your quarter horse friends have. You can plan an evening of fun and enlightenment for your quarter horse friends…and show them this movie.

You might need to prepare your quarterhorse friends for some examples of really bad riding styles early on in the movie. But, I’ve managed to come up with a great prepatory statement: "You’ll see a guy riding with his feet practically in his horse’s flanks and the horse just ignores him. That’s how wonderful this breed is!"

The movie also shows in slow motion a fox trot and flat foot walks. It’s nicely done…not too long, but long enough for you to actually see what the horse’s feet are doing. The tape has a catchy tune that the producer of the tape tells me was written specifically for the Missouri Fox Trotters.

There are old footages of fox trotters and new recent footages of fox trotters. There are scenes from twelve video contributors showing scenic trail-riding, working cattle, competitive trail riding, field trials with dogs, parades, US Forest Ranger Service, driving buggies, flag carrying and even barrel racing. The presentation ends with an exhibition of three Champion Missouri Fox Trotters in the Concert of Champions of the prestigious American Royal Horse show in Kansas City.
